Cory Popp was born in the deepest depths of Southern Indiana to a bank teller and a draftsman. He spent his childhood snapping photos on a Canon AE-1 program his mother gave him and creating nonsense on a VHS camcorder his father borrowed from an uncle. He spent the better part of his early adulthood touring with punk bands and promoting shows in Louisville, KY. He eventually pursued an education in Cinematography at Columbia College Chicago, where he received his BA. He has since spent his time shooting music videos, documentaries, television and commercials. He has done work for record labels like Atlantic, Scion A/V and De Stijl; networks like HBO, Discovery, Travel Channel, National Geographic, TLC, MTV, Animal Planet, Fox Sports and PBS; and companies like Samsung, Kuwait Oil Company, Vans, Finish Line, Reebok, Discover and Sargento. His first feature film, Ellie Lumme, premiered at New York’s BAMcinemaFest in 2014. It went on to play Cucaloris, Unknown Pleasures and BFI London. He currently resides in Chicago, IL.
